Richard Clive, DVM
“I absolutely love my job and can’t imagine doing anything else for a living.”
Dr. Clive’s lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian came true when he graduated from Texas A & M in 1993. He practiced as an associate veterinarian until 2010 when he opened his own practice, Midtown Veterinary Hospital. At Midtown, Dr. Clive’s philosophy is to provide high-quality health care using state-of-the-art technology and the latest in veterinary techniques in a friendly and supportive setting.
When he’s not caring for your furry friends, he enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Janelle, and their Yorkie kids, Baci Faith and Bailey Bear. Their favorite pastime is to walk around their neighborhood, although Baci and Bailey prefer to run. It’s tougher than you think to keep up with those little dogs!
Gabriel Ferrer, DVM
Dr. Gabriel Ferrer is originally from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. It was there that he developed a passion for animals at a very young age. Because there is not a veterinary school in Puerto Rico, he left his Caribbean Island to pursue his dream of becoming a Veterinarian.
Dr. Ferrer graduated from Louisiana State University with an undergraduate degree in Animal Science. Then he graduated from Michigan State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M) degree. After finishing veterinary school, he decided to get more experience in the veterinary field and finished a one-year medical and surgical rotating internship at The Ohio State University. During his internship year he became very interested in veterinary dermatology and came to Houston to do a specialized one year Dermatology Internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. He loved Houston so much that he decided to stay in this amazing city.
When Dr. Ferrer is not at Midtown Vet Hospital, he enjoys spending time with his wife Rosa and their two rescued dogs Luna Sofia and Jimmy Changa. Also he enjoys running, playing Volleyball or just enjoying everything this great city of Houston has to offer.
Catherine Lang, DVM
Originally from Austin, Dr. Catherine Lang is excited to start her career as a veterinarian in Houston, home to many friends and family. Dr. Lang earned her veterinary medicine degree from Texas A&M University, graduating magna cum laude as a member of the Phi Zeta honors club. She previously graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M University. While pursuing her studies, Dr. Lang was involved in multiple organizations, including serving as president of Green Vets Society, vice president of Imaging and Dentistry Club, event coordinator for the veterinary class of 2016, and an officer in Delta Delta Delta fraternity.
Rounding out her education at Texas A&M, Dr. Lang spent time studying veterinary medicine abroad at the University of Padua in Italy and through an externship at a hospital that specializes in orthopedic surgery in Faxe, Denmark. These experiences gave her a unique and global perspective on her vocation. She has since published two articles about these experiences in the Vet Gazette, a nationally available series of online publications written by and for veterinary students.
In her spare time, Catherine loves spending time with her friends, family, and one-year-old feline friend Vincent Vega. During the fall, she loves watching Fightin' Texas Aggie football, preferably at Kyle Field. You might see her trying new workout classes around the Montrose area, spending time outside on a sunny day, or planning her next trip abroad!
Janelle Rios, PhD
Janelle is thrilled to play a part in helping Dr. Clive reach his dream of opening his own veterinary hospital. She has a vested interest in his happiness because, well, they’re married. Although Janelle is new to the veterinary business, she has joyfully jumped in feet first to learn from the experts in the industry so she can keep the hospital running smoothly. “The timing for the new hospital was perfect! I’m incredibly lucky to be able to help Richard in these pivotal moments.”
Janelle has an undergraduate degree in Biology and a doctorate in Public Health. She’s a self-proclaimed neat freak and has thoroughly enjoyed bringing her organizational skills to Midtown Veterinary Hospital. One of Janelle’s favorite past times is curling up on the couch with her Yorkie kids Baci and Bailey. On occasion, there may even be room for Dr. Clive!

Front Desk Greeter
My name is Thomas and I am a very cute Boston Terrier (although a lot of people confuse me for a Frenchie!) I come to work with my mom every day and you can usually find me in someone's lap or under my mom's desk taking a nap. I am very friendly and sometimes will bring one of my cherished toys to you so we can play. I love playing chase and eating all kinds of treats, especially carrots. When not at work, I am either accompanying my mom on all of her adventures or at home with my baby sister Jasmine and my cousin Momo.
Front Desk Greeter
My name is Morena, but you're welcome to call me either Mo or Momo. I am Thomas's cousin.
We love napping, cuddling, and having fun together. I get bursts of energy that last about 10 minutes, but recharge my batteries with a 5 hour nap. Usually I am behind the desk with my momma, Ambar, ready to receive your butt rubs and treats. I am a big bundle of soft sweetness and cannot wait to meet you!
