Meet Midtown Veterinary Hospital’s Veterinarians & Staff
Richard Clive, DVM
"I absolutely love my job and can’t imagine doing anything else for a living."
Dr. Clive’s lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian came true when he graduated from Texas A & M in 1993. He practiced as an associate veterinarian until 2010 when he opened his own practice, Midtown Veterinary Hospital. At Midtown, Dr. Clive’s philosophy is to provide high-quality health care using state-of-the-art technology and the latest in veterinary techniques in a friendly and supportive setting.
When he’s not caring for your furry friends, he enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Janelle, and their Yorkie kids, Baci Faith and Bailey Bear. Their favorite pastime is to walk around their neighborhood, although Baci and Bailey prefer to run. It’s tougher than you think to keep up with those little dogs!
Janelle Rios, PhD, Hospital Administrator
Janelle is thrilled to play a part in helping Dr. Clive reach his dream of opening his own veterinary hospital. She has a vested interest in his happiness because, well, they’re married. Although Janelle is new to the veterinary business, she has joyfully jumped in feet first to learn from the experts in the industry so she can keep the hospital running smoothly. “The timing for the new hospital was perfect! I’m incredibly lucky to be able to help Richard in these pivotal moments.”
Janelle has an undergraduate degree in Biology and a doctorate in Public Health. She’s a self-proclaimed neat freak and has thoroughly enjoyed bringing her organizational skills to Midtown Veterinary Hospital. One of Janelle’s favorite past times is curling up on the couch with her Yorkie kids Baci and Bailey. On occasion, there may even be room for Dr. Clive!
Norma Sanchez, Veterinary Technician
Norma is a veterinary technician at Midtown Vet. She is a graduate from the Veterinary Technical Institute of Houston with several years of experience and is working to obtain her RVT licensure. Norma started working at Midtown in August of 2011, and is loving it. She does her best to make sure she provides the best of care for your pet friend and to make your vet visit enjoyable. She splits her 13 hour work days between mornings at Midtown and evenings at another location. Working two jobs at different veterinary hospitals takes up most of her time but on her down time she enjoys spending time with her friends, family, Tiny Dog and new baby.
Ashley, Veterinary Technician
Ashley is a graduate from the University of Texas Ð Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is a graduate from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. She is working to obtain her RN licensure. Ashley has a vast working with animals including working at Texas A&M Veterinary School, horse farms in Lexington, KY and other local clinics. She plans to apply to veterinary school in the fall. She enjoys spending time in the outdoors riding horses, mountain bike riding or rock climbing. She loves spending time with her family, friends and her cat, Mr. Loves. She believes that Midtown is a the best place to take your furry loved one because of the compassionate and excellent care that is provided.
